DIY: Director’s Chair

Last weekend, I decided to walk to this record store I had seen in town and wanted to check out. It turned out the owner was actually having a garage sale in the store. The walk there was lovely, but it turned out to be a bad idea because I ended up finding this beaut:

Image (Why yes, hauling this thing home for one mile was fun, why do you ask?)

I didn’t know I even needed a director’s chair, but apparently I did. And since the awkward shades of green and yellow didn’t exactly go with my decor, I decided to slap some paint and fabric on it, and this is what I ended up with:

I’m not quite sure what compelled me to go all Flea Market Flip on this thing. I’ve never really jumped on the DIY wagon before (as evidenced by my shoddy paint job and messy stitching). But I am quite proud of myself for taking on a project like this and actually finishing it. (I once started a quilt that I never finished, and there is half of a crocheted scarf sitting in my closet that I started two years ago. I don’t even remember how to crochet anymore.)

Now I have a nifty place to sit while I put my shoes on in the morning. (I did this just in time, too. While last weekend was pretty much perfect weather-wise, this weekend we had an early snow, and during my run this morning the wind kept blowing my earbuds out of my ears.)

Any serious DIYers out there? What’s the coolest project you’ve ever completed?
