Tofu Burgers

So I tried another cooking experiment. I had a block of tofu in my fridge (doesn’t everyone?), so I decided to make tofu burgers. Since tofu is essentially flavorless, it tastes like whatever you season it with. What does someone with a limited-selection spice cabinet flavor their tofu with?

Ranch popcorn seasoning, of course.

I threw the tofu block in a bowl, smushed it up with a potato masher (if you’re turned off my wet, squelchy noises you may want to forgo this recipe altogether) and mixed in the ranch and some pepper. Then I pressed it into patties with my hands and threw them on the griddle.

The idea was there. The execution was not.

What was supposed to be a burger turned into more of a tofu mash sandwich. But I put mozzarella on it, so it was all right.

Anyone cook with tofu? How do you like to season it?

Nice to see you putting a stocking stuffer to good use. 🙂 Tofu? Never. Bleh. My latest success is GF beef fajitas. I daresay they were good! Now, what do you suggest for a package of chicken drumsticks?

It was too cold to go shopping, so I used what I had on hand – ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar. Stuck them in the crockpot on high for 4 hours. YUMMY!!!!!
